The close relation between Graphic Design and Marketing


Graphic Design is a very creative and interesting field. It involves the use of text, vectors, shapes and images to create interesting designs. These designs can be used to package a company’s product in an attractive and professional way so as to attract more buyers. It can be used to enhance the company’s business communication and advertising, so that more people get to know about it.

Designer’s Role in Daily Life

The role of a graphic designer is self evident in all aspects our daily life. If we go around the city, we will find various bill boards and hoardings of different businesses, all across the city. Every business has got its own outdoor signage or banner. The buildings are also covered in huge perforated glass. When we visit shops in any of the malls, we notice the extensive branding work put in by the graphic designer as depicted by posters of various sizes. The marketing of various businesses is largely aided through the efforts of graphic designers.

A logo is the brand identity of a company. It needs to be designed professionally so as to represent what the company stands for. People must relate to the logo and what it stands for. Logos of brands like Nike, Sony, Apple, Coke, etc are iconic and people relate to them and take pride in buying their products. These logos are simple, yet people buy their products as they can emotionally connect with these products. This is how a graphic designer makes the job of the marketing team much easier.

Thus we can see that a graphic designer can find work in an advertising, marketing and PR company. He can take up jobs like web design, graphic design, Cartoonist and Illustrator. He can also work as an animator, movie editor etc. As a web designer, he can design the digital landscape via banners posters etc, so as to use the online channels for effective marketing. A graphic designer can also be employed as package designer in the production unit of a company, so as to attractively design the packaging for the company’s products and thus attract sales.
 A graphic designer thus creates attractive brand collaterals so as to effectively market the brand to its desired audience and thus complements the marketing team by enabling them with both online banners and offline brand collaterals so as to effectively communicate to the world about their brand.
